About the Artist
Hey, I'm Tracy Christina, an artist working from my beautiful boat on the Grand Union Canal in the UK.
I've often asked myself why I create art, and who I create it for.
I paint because it brings me a moment of stillness and connection. I have to be really present, even when I'm doodling in my sketchbook - those moments of slowing down are so important in a world that seems to thrive on speed and convenience. And I hope that, if you have a piece of my art at home, it helps you to also slow down, appreciate the moment, and reconnect with yourself in some way.
As to what I paint - if it sings to me, I'll feel called to paint or draw it. Perhaps I'll even write some words about it - a poem or a story.
As a society we're indoctrinated to follow the rules. But I've always been a rebel. Why should any of us be one thing and not another? Is there a way to fully be all of what we are, without having to rob or borrow from one part of ourselves to fuel the other? Or cut off parts of ourselves just to fit in?
I'm an artist, writer, poet, and so much more. I talk to trees, converse with animals and sing to the stars.
Last year, four became three when my beloved dog Roxie passed away - Olive and Merlin have expanded to fill that gap, however Roxie was and always will be my muse, a guiding light, a memory both softly remembered and sharp in absence. My cats are still adapting to boat life, and I have no doubt that Roxie watches over all three of us to keep us safe.
