The weather is drunk...

It's been a busy couple of weeks on the floating studio. I've had some very welcome visits from some lovely friends, sat on my deck enjoying the sunshine, dashed inside to avoid the rain, caught a glimpse of a doe in the field opposite my mooring spot, and managed to build up the motivation to create some art and do some admin-type schtuff on my website. (I am definitely not an SEO expert!)

I've been well supervised by Merlin the Manager, and thoroughly ignored by Olive, who maintains that it's her prerogative to engage with me in a friendly manner only when seeking sustenance, needing to be groomed, or to alert me that the litter tray has a deposit that needs to be removed. I'm pretty sure that her name for me is "Poop Scoop"!

I have a few commissions on the go, as usual - a series of 6 horses, a couple of miniature pieces that I've now completed, (so I have space for a few more - get in touch if you'd love to secure a slot!) plus an original composition, an element of which will be used for this month's Art Postcard Subscription

The weather has been giving me whiplash over the last few weeks - I built up a lovely tan, reading on the deck, only to now feel damp and cold again, and trying to eke out my supply of diesel til the fuel boat comes around again next week, as I'm reliant on diesel for not just propulsion, but also for my hot water and heating, too! (The price of diesel at the moment has my eyes watering somewhat.)

A visit from friends - I had to press the shutter button whilst my other friend held her camera at arms length - not the best photo but lots of fun and happiness!

I am exited that I finally have been able to apply for my Roving Traders licence with the Canal & River Trust - I'm now waiting for approval so that I can start to advertise my art and sell my art canal-side - and I'm already brainstorming some ideas about how to display my art, and designing a banner to put on the side of the boat - I am hoping that it brings more business my way and helps to keep me afloat! Don't let anyone tell you that it's cheaper to be a boater than a landlubber - sometimes boat life can be hella expensive!

I could honestly sit out on deck for hours, watching the life teeming all around me - there's always something new to behold - I love all of it. The wind, rain, sun, the rawness of life and the elements. Though I feel a little less in love with the cold when my heating isn't working, which is next on the list of repairs to save up for! Time then, to get back to the drawing board, my watercolours are calling me - as is the post box, as I have a tidy little pile of parcels to send out to some of you over the next few days, and I'm excited to send these little packages of joy!

Until next time,
